Job Description

This position is accountable for supporting field operations at marine project locations for Gulf Coast – Houston.  Incumbents are responsible for welding, cutting, grinding, chipping and clean-up in the projects with which they are involved.  Typically, they will work closely with a Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Crane Operator, Boat Captain, Laborers, Helpers and other skilled or semi-skilled crafts persons.    

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Works as assigned by the Barge Foreman to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new marine construction projects.
  • Displays and uses capabilities to cut, weld, chip, grind or fit metal as may be required by the project.
  • Utilizes oxygen-acetylene cutting torch and related equipment when required to cut away metal from existing structure, beams or platforms.
  • Welds together pieces of sheet metal once individual sheet piles are pile driven into place. 
  • Applies ability to stick rod weld in all positions to complete a job.
  • Rigs cable for lifting and moving objects from one location to another. 
  • Handles placement of steel plates and sheet piles with the aid of equipment such as cranes, winches, cable and hand tools that may be available.
  • Operates saws, presses, drills and grinders to fabricate parts needed to repair a piece of equipment.
  • Inspects and makes minor repairs to welding equipment; notifies Foreman of parts needed to complete repairs.
  • Picks up needed materials and supplies to complete project.   
  • Works closely with Foreman, Crane Operators, Helpers, and other skilled crafts persons to complete current projects in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety.

Minimum Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years welding experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary welding skills, knowledge and abilities is required.  The incumbent must also be able to communicate well and have good knowledge of the:

1) Practices and materials of the welding trade.

2) Physical characteristics of various types of metal used in the construction of marine

    structures.

3) Operation of various types of marine equipment and devices.   

4) Importance of safe work practices in a marine environment. 

5) Welding craft and be capable of passing standard welding tests that demonstrate

    proficiency to perform the job. 

6) Operation of acetylene and arc welding equipment, hand and power tools, and welding

    blueprints, and sketches is also required.

  • Wearing welding face shields, personal  floatation devices, self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40’-50’
  • Working in confined spaces and at elevated heights
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. as required
  • Adapting to extreme temperature, outdoor conditions,  and prolonged exposure

Job Description

This position is accountable for analyzing and recommending solutions related to development, configuration, analysis, documentation, and maintenance of the Company’s business applications, database, and development systems for all divisions within the company. Specific Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications and 4 years’ experience in the field or in a related area. The incumbent must have excellent computer skills and be knowledgeable with Microsoft applications including Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL 2008 R2/2012, Visual Studio, .NET, ASP.NET, C#, VB, AJAX, T-SQL, IIS, Excel, Access, AS400, DB2. The incumbent must also be highly competent with current development standards and practices and be able to implement and follow said standards and procedures, including debugging, testing and documenting software applications. The position also requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and relate to senior-level executives, management, as well as all levels of employees.

In addition, the incumbent must also:

  • Able to calculate volumes (i.e. mud pits, annular, pipe capacity & displacements) without supervision
  • Able to apply effective pit management principles (i.e. slugs, pills, storage, reserve, kill muds, etc.) during drilling operations
  • Knowledgeable on the solids control process and equipment and able to explain how various recommendations (i.e. screen size selection, shale shaker settings, etc.) will impact the drilling fluid properties and/or efficiency of solids removal
  • Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will prevent or address different hole problems (i.e. sloughing shales, gumbo shales, abnormal pressures, faults, etc.) encountered during drilling operations
  • Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will prevent or address lost circulation events (i.e. Mud Weight reduction in case of loses)
  • Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will minimize the impact of wellbore conditions (i.e. temperature, pressure, formation, etc.) on the drilling fluids system
  • Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will minimize the impact of contaminants (i.e. H2S, C02, Water intrusion, reactive formations, cement, etc.) on the drilling fluids system
  • Responsible for making appropriate recommendations related to the drilling fluids system that will improve hole cleaning efficiency (i.e. flow rates, Low Shear Rate Viscosities, RPM, ROP, etc.)
  • Able to perform hydraulics calculations (i.e. annular velocity, bit hydraulics, ECD, etc.) using Virtual HydraulicsTM software without supervision
  • Able to demonstrate an advanced or higher level of proficiency in the use of Virtual HydraulicsTM software
  • Knowledgeable regarding the impact of Particle Size Distribution (PSD), chemicals and contaminants on fluid loss
  • Able to recognize stuck pipe incidents and select appropriate pipe release agents

  • Responsible for validating all critical data required to complete daily reports
  • Proficient with the use of daily drilling fluid reporting software and able to perform all relevant calculations
  • Able to properly calibrate testing equipment as necessary without supervision
  • Responsible for ensuring that drilling fluids samples are collected and that all relevant drilling fluids tests are conducted properly
  • Responsible for interpreting the results (i.e. noticeable trends, contaminants, etc.) of all relevant drilling fluids tests
  • Able to explain the impact of hole conditions (i.e. contaminants, solids, pressure, etc.) on the drilling fluids testing results
  • Responsible for making appropriate chemical treatment recommendations based on the drilling fluids testing results that
  • will optimize drilling performance
  • Responsible for ensuring that a complete recap is completed for each hole section through the end of the well
  • Able to generate the drilling fluids program through close collaboration with the Project Engineer

Logistics Management

  • Responsible for managing the relevant Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements for any product shipments
  • Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and maintaining an accurate inventory of products at the wellsite
  • Responsible for managing the inventory of wellsite test chemicals for fluid chemical checks and able to explain the importance of shelf-life and the ordering process for replacement test chemicals
  • Responsible for the accurate reconciliation of delivery/credit tickets against wellsite inventory

This Major Construction Company is searching for a Party Chief I. They are located in the Houston Area and are a very large and successful construction business.

Job Description

The position of a Party Chief I is responsible for the actual field work of a survey party on various job locations and for the organization, efficiency, and accuracy of the work performed and obtained.

Responsibilities:

  • Locates, reviews, and researches job locations for identifying landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes that would affect the required survey; supervises the work; evaluates priorities and coordinates and organizes the work efforts.
  • Supervises the standard of work being performed and derives the necessary field calculations from work completed; responsible for the instruments and equipment; ensures that the angles, distance, and information are accurate and conform to regulations and standards.
  • Records, draws, and illustrates, in note form, a neat and legible reproduction of work performed.
  • Consults with computer operators and assists and directs the final computations; ensures that the final map of plat represents a comprehensive and accurate description of the field survey.
  • Performs administrative functions, such as completing time sheets and vehicle mileage reports, maintaining expense accounts, and documenting subsequent expenditures.
  • Whatever enhances the operations of the company.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Safety Representative and/or supervisor.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years experience with highways/roads/bridge projects is required

Language Skills 

  • Knowledgeable with the English Language in speaking & writing. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiar with construction technical terminology (surveying).

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Planning/Organizing 

  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions 

  • Outdoors but in an enclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions.
  • Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
