Job Description

This position is accountable for analyzing and recommending solutions related to development, configuration, analysis, documentation, and maintenance of the Company’s business applications, database, and development systems for all divisions within the company. General responsibilities include application analysis, documenting application workflows, ensuring business application, database, and development systems uptime as well as working with other team members to enhance existing as well as implement new systems to meet business goals and objectives. Typically, the incumbent will interface with employees at every division.

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Analysis and resolution of issues related to front end applications that write and/or relate to a database backend. Ensure that issues are resolved per approved service level objectives to minimize downtime and impact to operations.
  • Assist with the business analysis with all departments that may require custom development to further the Company’s goals and business initiatives.
  • Assist with the development, configuration, analysis, documentation, and maintenance of the Company’s production, testing, and development environments for .NET, SQL, Access, and other business application, development, and database systems.
  • Develop custom applications, reports, stored procedures, views, scripts, and other related objects to further enhance the needs, goals, and business initiatives of the Company and that comply with Company policies and regulatory controls.
  • Assist with the implementation of patches, upgrades, and new software/systems for the Company’s business application, database, and development systems.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of best practices for business applications, databases, and development systems maintenance, backups, and recovery including when required, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) in both the production and test environment.
  • Follow established security best practices, standards, and procedures as related to business application, database, and development systems.
  • Assist with the implementation of patches, upgrades, and new software/systems for the Company’s business application, database, and development systems.
  • Work with third party developers, consultants, and support personnel on special projects/needs that require their assistance to ensure Company policies and procedures as well as Federal regulations are being adhered to.
  • Respond to off-hour alerts, calls, e-mails or notifications to ensure operational efficiency and uptime.
  • Assist as needed with any IT related projects as determined by the IT Manager or Vice President of Information Technology.

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent certifications and 4 years’ experience in the field or in a related area. The incumbent must have excellent computer skills and be knowledgeable with Microsoft applications including Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL 2008 R2/2012, Visual Studio, .NET, ASP.NET, C#, VB, AJAX, T-SQL, IIS, Excel, Access, AS400, DB2. The incumbent must also be highly competent with current development standards and practices and be able to implement and follow said standards and procedures, including debugging, testing and documenting software applications. The position also requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and relate to senior-level executives, management, as well as all levels of employees.

In addition, the incumbent must also:

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to perform work duties with minimal supervision;

  • Be able to travel as needed to perform job related tasks or assist in IT related projects.

Physical and Mental Requirements 

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite.  This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.

Light physical requirements are occasionally involved including lifting objects that may weigh up to 60 lbs.
