What is Step into Energy?
Step Into Energy is a unique global employment program by NextOp and Walking with the Wounded for veterans to transition into energy industry careers. The program focuses on offering opportunities specifically for those veterans recently transitioned or service members soon to transition from the armed forces in the U.K. and the U.S.
Step Into Energy was initiated to raise the visibility of our veterans in the industry, and equally raises the visibility of companies who demonstrate a commitment to hire veterans.
Military veterans often inherit skills and talents through their military careers that are translatable in industry. By offering translatable skills, a diverse mindset, and a ready-to-work attitude, transitioning service members and veterans can offer a solution to the ever-present workforce gap facing the energy industry.
Energy companies are among the industries facing an ever-widening workforce skills gap. Companies are looking at innovative programs and talent pipelines to close the skills gap. By understanding translatable skills, companies are recognizing military veterans as a proven talent pipeline they can utilize.
With support from the Royal Foundation and the Houston Texans, Step Into Energy offers both veterans and energy companies unique opportunities to engage in the conversation, secure top talent throughout 2020, and start the journey towards a rewarding career.
